- LifeLab 3.1, July 1996, by Andrew Trevorrow (akt@kagi.com)
- ==========================================================
-
- LifeLab is a laboratory for investigating 2-dimensional cellular
- automata, the best known example being John Conway's game of Life.
- All the details on how to use the program are in the About LifeLab
- dialog under the Apple menu. In particular, make sure you read the
- Handy Hints topic. If you have an older version of LifeLab then
- see the Version History topic for a list of changes.
-
- Patterns
- --------
-
- The Patterns folder contains a large collection of pattern files.
- Most of them were supplied by Dean Hickerson and Alan Hensel.
- See the Read Me files in their subfolders.
-
- System and memory requirements
- ------------------------------
-
- LifeLab is a "fat" application that runs on every Macintosh model
- from a Mac Plus up to a Power Mac, and under any System version
- (well, almost -- 4.1 and up to be precise). It will also work
- with any type of monitor.
-
- LifeLab is distributed with a preferred memory size of 1000K so
- that very large grids can be created (up to about 1800 by 1800).
- If you want to create even larger grids then increase LifeLab's
- preferred memory size by using Get Info in the Finder's File menu.
-
- Shareware fee
- -------------
-
- If you decide to keep LifeLab, please pay the shareware fee:
-
- Australia Rest of the world
- AUS$10 US$10 (or equivalent amount in your local currency)
-
- This is a one-time-only fee that covers you for ALL future versions.
- There is also a $100 site fee which would, for example, cover all
- staff and students at a school.
-
- The best way to pay is to use the Register program distributed with
- LifeLab. It lets you pay in various ways and supports all the major
- credit cards (the cheapest option for people outside Australia).
-
- Australian residents and other people who prefer not to use Register
- can send their payment by cheque or cash to:
-
- Andrew Trevorrow
- 30 Douglas St.
- Rosanna 3084
- Australia
-
- If you want to, include the following information with your payment:
-
- Name: ____________________________________________________
-
- E-mail: ____________________________________________________
-
- Type of Mac: ____________________________________________________
-
- Comments: ____________________________________________________
-
- When I receive payment I will send you a registration number to
- remove the reminder dialog that appears when LifeLab starts up.
- I provide e-mail support to registered users, so send all your
- comments, queries and suggestions to akt@kagi.com.
